The collection of prints started with the purchase of the Collan collection, with funding from the Antell deputation in 1900. The Ramsay collection, left as a bequest in 1919, added to the collection. Together they add up to about 2,500 prints. In addition to these two significant collections, the lot includes the series of prints The Disasters of War and The Tauromaquia by Francisco Goya (1746‒1828), among other things.
Small additions have been made to the collection over the years. The total number of prints, ranging from around 1500 to the 1870s, now amount to about 4,000.
