Harri Ahonen: Hiker’s Finnmark

Writer and nature photographer Harri Ahonen will introduce you to hiking in Finnmark. The lecture is part of the program of Peder Balke – The Spell of the Arctic -exhibition.

Harri Ahonen has toured the most spectacular hiking spots in the northern Norwegian province of Finnmark. There are a whole range of well-known and lesser-known sites, such as the rugged mountain islands of Sørøya Island, Syltevika Bay and the Varang Peninsula, which make hikers marvel at the beauty of northern nature. The lecture will give you practical information about Finnmark’s hiking culture, such as public rights of way, rules for protected areas, hiking requirements and access routes.

Harri Ahonen is a non-fiction writer and nature photographer with about 20 years of hiking and camping experience in Norway, Sweden and Finland. He is the author of seven non-fiction books published by Tammi publishing company. Ahonen has lived in Norway for several years, where she has become familiar with the local hiking culture.
